What is the Community Visitors Scheme?
The Community Visitors Scheme improves quality of life for older people by growing social connections, and we have been delivering the scheme throughout Northern NSW for many years.
But how does it work?
- We interview, match, orientate and approve, friendly volunteer visitors to older people who live in residential aged care.
- Volunteer visitors are matched to recipients based on their shared interests and location.
- We support our volunteer visitors and their recipients to co-created visit activities. For example, they might read a book together, go for a walk, listen to music, chat, reminisce or watch a favourite movie.
We feel proud to have nearly 50 years of grass-roots experience working with communities and volunteers throughout Northern NSW. One of our main goals is inclusion and we are committed to building social inclusion for older people throughout the region. Read more about our Community Visitors Scheme here.
