Community Gateway staff to share their trauma informed expertise at Better Chances regional forum.
Two of our staff are set to present discussion topics at the upcoming Better Chances Right Support Right Time regional forum.
This forum is a gathering of community members, community-facing professionals, funding bodies and organisations all working towards creating better outcomes for children, young adults and their families in the Northern Rivers region.
This forum will convene at 9am on on Thursday 13 June and run all day at Lennox Head Cultural and Community Centre. It will explore the skills, support and relationships our sector needs to create better outcomes for children, young people and their families.
It will examine what we need to operate in a more trauma responsive way and provide fertile ground to think about how we can improve. It’s an opportunity to challenge ourselves as workers, managers and organisations to do better.
We’re stoked that our very own Jenn Parker, a children’s specialist worker with our Flourishing Families service, will address the forum to talk about the great trauma informed practice our services offers, how it looks and the benefits it creates.
And Katie Burgess, one of our excellent trauma counsellors will present a discussion that will provide some practical, hands-on activities and tools that she uses in the course of her trauma informed counselling sessions with children and young adults.
The forum is open to everyone and costs $35 per person to attend. For more information about the forum or to buy a ticket, visit www.trybooking.com/BCGDE.
