Joy and Maree celebrated at volunteer awards

Northern Rivers volunteers of the year

Earlier this month, an awards night was held in Lismore to celebrate and recognise the important contribution of volunteers to our communities throughout the region. These regional awards are part of the NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards, organised by The Centre for Volunteering.

So on October 3, Lismore Workers Club was alive with volunteers, volunteering organisations, local representatives and celebrities to shine a light on the incredible dedication, passion and generosity of volunteers throughout the Northern Rivers.

Congratulations to two of our own volunteers Joy and Maree! Joy was nominated for the Senior Volunteer category award and Maree was nominated for the Adult Volunteer category award.

Additionally, special mention was made of our own No Interest Loan Scheme team and the volunteers that have contributed to that team in the last year. They were nominated for the Team Volunteer award category and our very own Acting Social and Financial Inclusion Manager Renee was there to collect the certificate.

We recognise the vital contribution that all volunteers make to our communities. We provide several services to strengthen volunteering throughout the region such as volunteer support and placement, training, advocacy and facilitating volunteer networks.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Joy, Maree and all our volunteers for their generosity and dedication to the work they do at Community Gateway.

Many tracks, one road, sustaining community.
