Looking for more company in your life?

We have community visitors waiting to see you!

Being an older person in regional and rural NSW can be lonely at times, particularly if you live alone at home or in an aged care facility. You can’t just pop down the street to meet up with friends or easily bump into someone you know.

We call this social isolation. It has all sorts of negative effects on health, happiness and well being.

The good news is that we provide a special service just for older people living alone at home or in aged care facilities throughout the Northern Rivers region. It’s called the Community Visitors Scheme.

Through this scheme, we match our volunteer visitors to older people who are socially isolated. Our volunteers are interviewed, checked and approved to visit, so there’s no need to worry.

Having a volunteer visitor can improve mental health, increase self esteem, happiness and sense of purpose. It can also reduce depression and anxiety. And besides, how nice is it to have a cuppa and a chat?

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, our volunteer visitors are not currently able to visit older people. But, because of modern technology, they can telephone, email and even video chat too.

So if you’re feeling socially isolated or would just like some more company in your life, contact us now about the Community Visitors Scheme. It will brighten your day!
