The Community Visitors Scheme improves quality of life for older people by growing social connections, and we deliver the scheme throughout Northern NSW.
But how does it work?
- We interview, match, orientate and approve, friendly volunteer visitors to older people in residential aged care or who live at home and have an approved home care package (or waiting approval).
- Volunteer visitors are matched to recipients based on their shared interests and location.
- We support our volunteer visitors and their recipients to co-created visit activities. For example, they might read a book together, go for a walk, listen to music, chat, reminisce or watch a favourite movie.
We have nearly 50 years of grass-roots experience working with communities and volunteers throughout Northern NSW. One of our main goals is inclusion and we are committed to building social inclusion throughout the region.
