We hosted a community event focused on connecting individuals interested in volunteering with 15 volunteer-involving organisations, in a novel speed dating format.
Great volunteers are hard to find.
We know that finding great-fit volunteers is hard for local community organisations. With limit time and resources, they often struggle to organise recruitment activities or represent their opportunities to the community.
To remove the burden, we knew we had to do something that was easy for them to participate in. No prep, no complications; just turn up and talk to individuals interested in hearing more.
For volunteers, the nature of the work matters.
When we speak to volunteers, we know that role fit matters. For sustainable and mutually beneficial volunteering to happen, the volunteer needs to be well suited to the role, and passionate about the cause.
Volunteers often don’t have a good idea of the opportunities in their community, the level of commitment required, or the skillsets in demand. It’s all too hard.
Being able to meet 15 organisations in one place, for short, casual conversations, allows people interest in volunteering to find a great-fit role easily, and fast.
A huge thanks to all the organisations that participated.
