On Monday, we attended the NAIDOC Week flag raising ceremony at the Clarence Valley Council chambers in Grafton. We were joined by local Aboriginal Elders, council staff and community members to “Keep The Fire Burning, Blak, Loud And Proud”. We were grateful for a break in the rain to raise the flags and offer our respect to the First Nations of Bundjalung, Gumbainggir and Yaegl, and to indigenous communities across Australia.#nrcg #communitygateway #bundjalungcountry #naidoc2024 #RRK #rrk #rainbowregionkids #blakloudandproud #graftonnsw #gumbaynggirrcountry #yaeglcountry ... Happy LGBTQIA+ Pride Month! All through June we have acknowledged and celebrated sexually-and-gender-diverse people in our communities, culminating in International LGBT Pride Day today. You may not know this, but International LGBT Pride Day on June 28 marks the anniversary of rioting that happened in a New York gay bar called The Stonewall Hotel in 1969. For years leading up to that day, police had targeted gay venues and patrons with violence and persecution. But on that day, LGBTQIA+ people stood up for their equality, clashing with police and sparking a wave of pro-rights demonstrations which ultimately changed the face of LGBTQIA+ human rights to this day.We honour the bravery and determination of those protestors, LGBTQIA+ elders and activists, and anyone else today that has to fight for their human rights in the face of discrimination and violence.#nrcg #communitygateway #bundjalungcountry #lgbtqia #nswlgbtqia #lgbtqiapride #LGBTQIAPrideMonth #LGBTQIAPrideMonth ...
