This week is Homelessness Week. At Community Gateway many of our program staff support individuals and families experiencing homelessness or facing risk of homelessness. Our case managers from our Helping Hands program work intensively with Aboriginal community members who are experiencing homelessness. Importantly they work to build resilience and strength, advocate for social justice and continue to support flood recovery efforts for our clients. Homelessness can stem from a range of factors including the affordable housing crisis, not feeling safe in your own home, impacts of a family crisis, general cost of living increases, and financial exclusion. This week we recognise the ongoing commitment and hard work that goes into addressing homelessness in our community; an injustice that must be overturned. #homelessnessweek2022 #HomelessnessAwareness #communityresilience ...
