This is a shout out to all enthusiastic community minded people in the Ballina/Byron area. Did you know there are many lonely and isolated seniors living in our community? By volunteering with the Community Visitors Scheme, for as little as one hour per fortnight, you can make a massive difference in an older persons life. We would love to hear from you if you're looking to give back, please contact kahnquinlan@nrcg.org.au or call 0427 558 126 for more information. We connect isolated and lonely seniors with people in the community for friendship, outings, and fun! It's not just the seniors who gain from this program, our volunteers do too, with lasting genuine friendships formed, and a lifetime of knowledge shared. The program is run by the local charity Northern Rivers Community Gateway, and funded by the Federal Government. It has been in operation for thirty years now and is growing all the time. Often communities are drifting further apart and locals know each other less and less, this program aims to address that, and form bonds and community connections for everyone involved.Be it playing scrabble, listening to stories, going out for a cuppa or a walk, the Community Visitors Scheme can be a rewarding opportunity for people who wish to give something back to our seniors. So don't delay, give us a call, message, or send an email. We have other volunteer opportunities too, including the reverse of this program, where older people teach children forgotten skills! Thanks for reading and we hope you are having#northernrivers #ballina #byron #Lennox #volunteerNSW #volunteerNSW #nrcg #northernriversnsw #Communityvisitorsscheme #communityvisitors #northernrivers ...
