IRL Connection for Young Women

Our Time, Our Space is an exciting mentoring and offline connection initiative for young women across the Northern Rivers.

Overview

A space to connect, create, grow, explore and be heard.

Our Time, Our Space is a new program creating meaningful opportunities for young women to step away from the noise, expectations and pressures of everyday life and simply have space to be themselves.

Through connection, conversation, creativity, shared experiences and supportive mentoring, the program is designed to help young women build confidence, strengthen their sense of identity, explore who they are and who they want to become, and develop genuine connections with other young women and positive role models.

At the heart of Our Time, Our Space is the belief that young women deserve spaces where they feel safe, respected, valued and heard – without judgement or pressure to have everything figured out.

The program will bring together young women and carefully selected mentors who can offer encouragement, perspective, lived experience and genuine connection.

  • Learn from shared experiences and different perspectives
  • Discover strengths, interests and possibilities
  • A space offline and to build critical thinking around online platforms
  • Have conversations that matter

I’m interested in becoming a mentor. Where do I start?

Our Time, Our Space is seeking positive, caring women to mentor young women aged 14–18. Mentors provide encouragement, connection, and a safe space to build confidence, develop life skills, and explore goals for the future. If you are a good listener, reliable and passionate about supporting young women, we would love to hear from you.

Mentors don’t need to have all the answers. What matters is the ability to listen, be present, share appropriately from their own experiences and create a safe, respectful and encouraging connection.

All mentors will participate in an appropriate screening, induction and training process before taking part in the program.

Submit your interest on the Mentor Registration Form.

I’m a young woman and I’m interested in participating. How can I register my interest?

The program is currently in development, with further details including dates, location and program structure to be confirmed. If you are a young woman interested in participating, or you would like to explore becoming a mentor, we invite you to register your interest by emailing kateminto@nrcg.org.au

Your expression of interest doesn’t commit you to participating – it simply allows us to keep you informed as the program takes shape.
