No Interest Loans (NILS)

No Interest Loans (NILS) are intended for people who face barriers in accessing small amounts of credit on fair and reasonable terms, for the purchase of essential household goods. We are the provider of NILS for the Northern Rivers region, so are your first access point to service if you live in this region.

You must meet certain criteria to qualify for NILS:

• Possess a current health care card, pension card, or receive a government benefit.
• Be earning a low income.
• Can show financial surplus at the end of their fortnightly budget.
• Have lived at the same address for at least 3 months.

You can borrow up to $2,000 through NILS, to be repaid over 12 months. The loans can be used for the purchase of essential household items and goods (not for property rent, debt, cash, fines, holidays or other excluded uses).

No. No Interest Loans (NILS) have no interest payment or loan fees.
