Helping Hands

Want to find long term housing?

Helping Hands is a service for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Northern Rivers region who are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless.

If you identify as First Nations Australian, have nowhere to live or need to move out of your home soon and have not found another place to live, Helping Hands can support you.

We will work with you to find stable housing that you can afford, either in your current home or by finding you a new one. We provide up to 12 months of case management to support you and your family.

Who can access Helping Hands?

Helping Hands is available to anyone who:

  • Identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
  • Is over 16 years of age.
  • Has nowhere to live or has to move out of their home with no other housing options.
  • Is currently living in the Lismore or Casino Local Government Areas.

Need additional support?

Link2home is a homelessness support helpline, available all day, every day, and free to call from any landline.

The number is 1800 152 152

Link2home has a callback service. You can leave your contact details, keep your place in the queue and their staff will call you back when it is your turn.

From 10pm-9am, Link2home is an information-only service except in an emergency or where your safety is at risk. In these cases, they will make every effort to provide you with accommodation.
