Hearts & Hands Workshops: Healing through creativity for kids
Free and fun 4-week creative workshop program for children aged 7-11 affected by trauma.
The therapeutic benefits of creative expression are manifold, partularly for young adults who have not developed the vocabulary necessary to articulate their thoughts and emotions. This series of 4 weekly workshops are designed to provide pre-adolescents with techniques to improve their mental, social and emotional regulation through creative and artistic expression.
Through claywork, painting and play, participants will learn how to:
- Develop practical coping strategies.
- Discover healthy ways to express emotions.
- Explore personal strengths.
- Build supportive relationships.
Workshop details
- Facilitated by qualified and experienced trauma counsellors.
- Starting 22 October 2025.
- Every Wednesday for 4 weeks.
- 9:15am-10:30am.
- 606 Ballina Road, Goonellabah.
Workshop activities are inclusive, age-appropriate and aligned with the Australian student wellbeing framework.
About the facilitators
Our specialist child and adolescent trauma counsellors Shar and Kim have extensive experience in delivering mental health and wellbeing programs for young people. They bring specialist training in children’s trauma counselling, school wellbeing, trauma-informed care, at-risk youth programs and parenting support. They are accredited Love Bitesfacilitators, Mental Health First Aid® instructors, and have presented at many regional wellbeing conferences.
